Oil-free compressed air with BOGE converter technology
Class 0 oil-free compressed air – tested and certified completely safe by TÜV Süd
BOGE's BLUEKAT is the only compressor series on the market that produces class 0 compressed air in a direct and absolutely safe way. That means, no complicated filtering to obtain high-quality, oil-free compressed air, and no costly disposal of condensate.
Particularly high quality, class 0 oil-free compressed air is a 'must' for delicate areas of application such as the food and beverage industry. Thanks to its integrated converter technology, the screw compressors in the BOGE BLUEKAT series produce direct, oil-free compressed air with a residual oil content of less than 0.002 mg/m3, irrespective of the quality of the intake air – as tested and certified by the German TÜV Süd certification institution. There's no need for users to worry about the quality of the intake air or elaborately filter the oil-free compressed air.
The concept combines the use of a highly-efficient oil injected screw compressor from the S series with a special converter. This converter reliably oxidises the hydrocarbon (oil) into water and carbon dioxide (CO2). Following compression, an air-to-air heat exchanger and heater bring the temperature of the compressed air to 230°C, as the compressed air in the converter requires an adequate operating temperature. While the heated compressed air flows through the integrated BOGE converter, the oil contained in the air oxidises into carbon dioxide and water. The carbon monoxide (CO) contained is broken down and eliminated – there is no need for an additional CO filter. Since the converter has an integrated overload protection system, it is impossible for it to exceed its capacity. Oil leaks in the event of a failure of the oil separator or filter are excluded. This gives users maximum safety and reliability. In addition, the intense heat in the converter kills off all bacteria, leaving sterile compressed air.
The purified compressed air, now with a residual oil content of less than 0.002 mg/m3, finally passes through the aftercooler. The condensate precipitated in the aftercooler contains fewer than 1-2 mg/l of hydrocarbons. Like the compressed air, it is now considered absolutely oil-free and can even be discharged into the wastewater system without further treatment. In oil-free compression, on the other hand, the condensate is far more corrosive, due in part to the formation of sulphurous acid from sulphur dioxide and water. In this case, treatment of the condensate is essential. The compressed air produced by the BLUEKAT is also silicate free – an important criterion for surface finishers, as only silicone-free compressed air allows paints and varnishes to be applied with a blister-free finish.
Whoever thinks that state-of-the-art technology and enhanced production reliability imply higher costs, however, is wrong. It's just the opposite: "BLUEKAT technology not only provides technical benefits but also saves costs, as it is a more cost-effective way of producing oil-free compressed air.
