Due to their design, composite bursting discs are ideal for low to medium bursting pressure use. We use state-of-the-art lasers to cut special patterns with high precision into foils of stainless steel, nickel, nickel-based materials or tantal, making it possible to adjust the bursting pressure precisely to our customers' specifications. It is therefore possible to achieve low pressures from 20 mbar (at an operating temperature of 20 degrees Celsius). If the operating pressure exceeds the permissible value, the foil ruptures in a segmented pattern or hinge-like manner without fragmenting. Composite bursting discs can therefore be installed easily in front of safety valves.
A sealing diaphragm made of PTFE or PFA is positioned precisely between the slotted metal foils, making it possible to use the composite bursting discs at operating temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius. Berstscheiben Schlesinger offers composite bursting discs in DN 15 to DN 900 sizes as standard. Naturally we tailor our product specifications to your particular application. For this purpose we manufacture two variants of the composite bursting disc: a double-acting bursting disc and a bursting disc for excess pressure and vacuum (negative) pressure. Both can be installed directly between standard flanges without a holder, in a holder between flanges, or in clamp connections.
We can also fit our composite bursting discs with a bursting disc monitor. Our diaphragm transducer is used when installing composite bursting discs directly between flanges without a holder. Bursting discs installed in a holder or in clamp connections are fitted with our transducer with inductive proximity sensor.
Composite bursting discs for excessive or vacuum pressure
In the event of a failure, this flat, laser-slotted bursting disc opens in a segmented pattern without fragmenting and opens up the entire section. The medium can therefore quickly and immediately escape.
Whether due to excessive or vacuum pressure, this special composite bursting disc can reliably protect your systems even at low operating pressures from 20 mbar.
Double-acting composite bursting discs
Berstscheiben Schlesinger also offers double-acting composite bursting discs. This allows you to use a single bursting disk for your application to protect against prohibited excess and vacuum pressures while at the same time saving you money.
