High Speed KEG Lines

Comac was created in 1990. The company was founded by a group of partners who previously worked in the sector of bottling plants for twenty years.

It started its activities manufacturing conveyors, pasteurizers, heating and cooling tunnels, CIP systems and keg plants for small productions.

Between 1991 and 1996, after opening the Eastern Europe markets, the company supplied a growing number of plants in these countries, constantly increasing both production capacities and product range. Soft drink premixes, carbonators and flash pasteurizers were added to the product line. Throughout these years, the systems and processes for the treatment of beer and soft drinks were constantly improved.

In 1997, the company became Krones AG’ supplier for high speed conveying systems for the Italian market; several of these systems, provided with PLC, were sold to Nestlé, Campari, Coca Cola, Heineken and other large beverage manufacturers.
In order to respond more promptly to the market demands, the company began manufacturing stainless steel structural works.
Our objective was reached: the manufacturing time of semi-finished products was reduced, making Comac more competitive and raising quality standards at the same time.

In 2000, with the take-over of MCD Bottling Solutions - a company with a remarkable know-how in the manufacture of bottling plants - Comac added bottling lines to its range of keg lines, thus offering its customers a complete turnkey service.

In 2001, the Research & Development department was founded with the objective of designing and implementing new projects for the improvement of filling systems for both bottles and kegs.
Its staff developed a new filling valve for cans and Pet bottles, further improving the previous standards of quality and precision.

In 2003, among other important innovations, the new washing/filling head for kegs was introduced with great success.
In 2004, the average size of Comac keg plants production increased from 60 to 240 kegs per hour and a series of new control machines was introduced in the range of products.

2005 was a turning point for the keg division: after a year of research, Comac started production of high-speed keg plants with capacities up to 1,000 kegs per hour.
Thanks to these innovative solutions, Heineken chose Comac new HS6T plant technology, finally replacing the traditional rotary machines manufactured by the competitors for this market.
In the following three years, Heineken bought three high-production plants from Comac.
At that time,  AB-InBev entrusted Comac with the study of a new type of equipment for the treatment of 6 liter beer kegs and subsequently commissioned two plants for the treatment of this keg size.

In 2006, new filling valves for bottles and cans were designed and produced for carbonated and non carbonated water, beer, juices, syrups and liquors.

The constant search for new applications of the filling concept lead in 2007 to two new highly innovative filling valves, one electronic and the other pneumatic, which combined technology, performance and design.

The company’s operating system was upgraded as a response to new market demands, requiring increased quality, efficiency and competitiveness. The whole activity of the company was computerized and the relevant costs were constantly checked.
The use of three-dimensional modeling system was introduced and the companies of the group were connected by a fiber optic transmission system.

In 2008 Comac Group saw its brand definitely consolidated on the market as the Comac name became renowned in the industry and its customer list grew to include companies such as Heineken, AB-InBev, Coca Cola, Carlsberg, Damm, Grupo Modelo, EFES Group, Mahou San Miguel, Bavaria, among the largest clients.

In 2009, Comac and MCD merged through absorption, giving birth to a renewed company and making management even more effective.

2010 is Comac 20th anniversary. The constant attention to environmental issues leads the company to choose renewable energy sources: a photovoltaic power system was installed to cover the company power supply demands.
The high speed keg lines land in the USA: New Belgium Brewing Company of Fort Collins, Colorado, a leading regional craft brewery in the USA, installed a complete Comac keg plant featuring the HS6T technology.

In 2011 Comac installs another high-speed keg line in Queensland, Australia, for an important brewery of the Foster’s Group (now SABMiller).

In 2012, besides keeping step on the traditional markets, with remarkable successes in the US and another high speed keg line installed in Coahuila for Grupo Modelo, the company starts a new project especially dedicated to craft breweries, in order to offer them all the skills and experience acquired in more than twenty years of activity and a specific range of machines whose technical characteristics can guarantee the quality of their beers.
