AQANA is a Dutch company specialized in industrial wastewater treatment where efficiency in biogas production and biogas utilization are key factors. Our main expertise, based on many years of practical experience, lies in the biological treatment of medium to (very) high strength industrial effluents by innovative anaerobic and/or aerobic processes.
Aqana’s award-winning DACS® technology has proven its worth over and again since this concept was first conceived in 2011. DACS’ (Downflow Anaerobic Carrier System) main advantages for industrial clients lie in the carrier based robustness of the system, ensuring continuity for the industry in the treatment of their effluents. Unlike granular sludge based anaerobic reactors, the DACS reactor can handle effluents with more aggressive characteristics, e.g. with relatively high salt, chemical, and/or solids loads.
DACS’ technology is taking anaerobic treatment to the next level. DACS is currently (being) implemented in brewery, distillery, food & beverage, pulp & paper, and chemical industries, sometimes under conditions highly unfavorable to granular sludge based systems.
The DANA® combined DACS/MBBR, treatment plant was conceived to have one of the smallest footprints currently available on the market serving industrial clients with space limitations for direct discharge.
Flexibility: due to its unique characteristics, DACS®/DANA® technology can often also be used to retrofit and/or upgrade existing systems (tanks).
