Pelliconi was founded in Bologna (Italy) in 1939 as "Ditta Angelo Pelliconi" (DAP), specialized in the production of crown corks and small metal components wholesale.
Born as a small company operating in the domestic market, thanks to a successful entrepreneurial vision and the wish to be ever closer to its customers, Pelliconi is now a world leader in the field of packaging for the food & beverage industry, proud to be a partner of the most important international players.
Thanks to an unceasing investment program Pelliconi has continuously grown, expanding its business over the past ten years especially, reaching an annual production capacity of over 30 billion caps. The Group currently employs almost 600 people worldwide and counts five production plants spread over four continents: two in Italy, in Ozzano dell'Emilia (Bologna) and Atessa (Chieti); one in Cairo (Egypt); one in the United States, in Orlando (Florida); the last one was inaugurated in 2016 in Suzhou (China). There are also five international commercial branches, thanks to which Pelliconi created a vast sales and distribution network, that allowed the group to become one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of closures worldwide.
Pelliconi is expanding more and more the range of its customized products, suitable for the most demanding customers. Maxi P-26 standard caps, with their innovative “ring-pull” opening, “Smart Crown” caps, the thickness of which has been greatly reduced, then the complete range of PVC-free and BPA-NI (Bisphenol A Non-Intent) closure products like SoPure (PT51) caps dedicated to baby food and several technical solutions for promotional products are just a few examples of the group production capability.
But the most important new issue is the Pelliconi “Flower cap”, an exciting new closure for 26mm pry-off bottles that has officially been presented in November 2018, at the Brau Beviale in Nuremberg. Its key advantages versus crown corks are its smooth design and soft feel, due to the rolled bead at its base which prevents direct contact between the steel cut-edge and the bottleneck, and removes any sharp edges. It is made from downgauged steel and is therefore a perfect choice from a sustainability perspective. Due to the absence of knurling, it offers a much greater surface for branding, with printing on the sidewall being visible and undistorted to a depth much greater than that for standard crowns. Flower cap can be applied using a conversion kit for standard crowners, similar to those available for ring-pull closures, and opened with standard bottle openers.
Furthermore, to guarantee the product safety and quality to all clients and end consumers, Pelliconi requires all of its production facilities to adhere to ever more demanding international standards in terms of quality, food safety, environmental impact, and the regulation of products coming in contact with food.
The environment represents for Pelliconi a heritage to be respected and preserved for present and future generations. This is why the group undertakes responsible management of natural resources, energy and waste, improving its results through the use of new technologies which are ever more efficient and have a lower environmental impact. Besides, the closure production does not hurt biodiversity, since all production plants are located in industrial areas and the production processes do not have particularly critical impacts on soil, flora or fauna. Water consumption does not represent a significant aspect in Pelliconi production cycle since it is not used in manufacturing processes except in closed circuits for plant cooling, fire extinguishing systems in emergency cases, in sanitary services and irrigation of green areas. Pelliconi is firmly convinced that a sustainable business is the way to continue its successful path.
