Water is a very important component in the brewing and beverage industry – as an ingredient in beverages, as process water and as cleaning water. As water intended for human consumption, it is subject to the strict guidelines of the drinking water regulations. As a result, beer and beverage hoses are fundamentally unsuited to transporting drinking water, because the regulations that apply to foodstuffs are significantly different from those for drinking water. Only water hoses tested by authorized test centers on behalf of the DVGW and which, like the AQUAPAL® from Continental, are labeled with a corresponding certification, are permitted for the transporting of drinking water.
Even at an early stage, the AQUAPAL® drinking water hose met – long before most other hoses – the requirements of the KTW guidelines (official German recommendation on polymer levels in drinking water) in the pipes category (formerly category "A") and of DVGW worksheet W 270. Furthermore, AQUAPAL® was the very first drinking water hose to be awarded the prescribed DVGW type approval
certificate in accordance with test specifications VP 549 for hoses used for the nonpermanent transport of drinking water. The sturdy and highly flexible drinking water hose thus fulfilled all test requirements and stipulations. The hose is also WRAS certified. Furthermore, its inner lining complies with FDA regulations and meets the requirements of EG 1935/2004, EG 2023/2006 and EU 10/2011. In addition, the hose is suitable for use with all cleaning agents in accordance with DVGW worksheet W 291.
